New Businesses Need a Manual Credit Card Machine
With each passing day,
the world is becoming more and more digitized and one of the results of this is people are using credit and
debit cards more and more. It can be safer to carry less money and it’s a lot less cumbersome to carry around.
Because of this new trend, small business should acquire a manual
credit card machine so they don’t have to turn customers away.
Over the years, credit
cards were the primary reason for these machines. However, with the introduction of debit credit cards directly
linked to a checking account, people are starting to curb this trend. The debit card is the major reason why
most businesses need to get a credit card machine of some sort.
For a business that
lacks the digital technology and software in their store’s system, they can still be paid by credit card with an
old style manual credit card machine. These machines capture the
information by placing a credit slip on the machine enabling the credit card numbers to be captured on the paper
by swiping in the machine. After this is completed, fill out all the pertinent information and each party can
keeps a copy of the slip.
What makes this
different than the newer machines is that the results on the paper must be mailed to the credit card company.
There is also a difference in the actual speed of the transaction. Credit card companies will often wait until
they have the hard copy of the slip to verify the transaction, bill the customer and pay the vendor. When an
electronic machine is used, most companies will pay the vendor within a few days, if not during the overnight
settlement of accounts.
These machines are available on a rental basis depending on the longevity of store
or business venue as well. This works best for people who own seasonal businesses or who only do a few trade
shows each year. However, if the seasonal business is something that happens year in and year out, it may still
be a wise decision to purchase the machine outright and save money over time.
Manual credit card machines are the old style machines that process
their payment information manually instead of digitally. Although they are older, they are still very effective
when allowing customers to pay for their purchases via credit cards. In fact, they allow more portability as
there is never the need to have a phone line or computer. As long as the vendor has a cell phone to get approval
numbers from the company, they are all set for credit card sales transactions.
